He was THE FIRST to expose the cruel slaughter of seals: Passing of Mr. Peter LUST
"The Last Seal Pup" {Harvest House, 1967) by Peter Lust won wide acclaim and was a first of its kind, exposing the cruel practices employed in the baby seal hunt in Canada. The book, in addition to winning him the Quebec Literary Prize, caused a change in how the seal hunt was carried out.

Subject: We have lost a very special and wonderful friend - he was THE FIRST to expose the cruel slaughter of seals: Passing of Mr. Peter LUST
I feel so proud to have met this wonderful man - even though it was only one time ... he left a lifetime impression on me and has inspired me all these years since. What, and Who he is - will remain with us forever

Peter Klaus Lust, 1911 -2005
He was born January 15, 1911 in Nurnberg, Germany. His heritage home is still there. He made Canada his home since 1946. He was an accomplished writer, as well as humanitarian. He dedicated much of his life to exposing inhumanity - particularly to helpless animals. His book, "The Last Seal Pup" {Harvest House, 1967) won wide acclaim and was a first of its kind, exposing the cruel practices employed in the baby seal hunt in Canada. The book, in addition to winning him the Quebec Literary Prize, caused a change in how the seal hunt was carried out.
He had a razar-sharp wit, and unique sense of humour.
He died on October 28, 2005, at the age of 94 after a very long and courageous battle with alzheimers. He is survived by his three children and six grandchildren.
