WHALE PRODUCTS DISGUISED IN COSMETICS
TRAGEDY HITS SOUTH AFRICA WHEN WHALE PRODUCTS DISGUISED IN COSMETICS ANGERS CONSUMERS DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BECAUSE YOU ARE INDIRECTLY SUPPORTING WHALE KILLINGS. (Without Prejudice)
This is only the tip of the iceberg I have been told
Shock, anger and dismay have shaken the public in their foundations. This cant be true! Are you sure about this and how long has this been going on? This is surely a million dollar question, but we tend to find out!
Due to various reasons we cannot disclose too much information about who is going to do this research at this stage, except to say that purchasing any cosmetic, pharmaceutical and or consumable item please make sure to read the ingredients on the container. You will find these items on numerous shelves of many supermarkets and pharmacies. If you find the word CETACEAN which means whale products, do not purchase the item. Other names similar to this you will find such as Cetyl Alcohol which derives from whale oil according to our information but until test have proven this, I suggest you ignore this temporarily until we have been given the hard facts that it contains whale oil.
Testing various products cost money and could vary from one another, as in the case of the following:
1 Every sample requires analyzing at least one GCMS .at R320 each. (Approximately 12 products have been counted thus far)
2 Thereafter possible gas chromatographic must be done at R190 per analyst.
3 If the sample requires more intensive analyzing to determine its correct results it would cost another R660/hour.
4 In addition this, it applies to the time spend to develop any method conducive to the end result.
We have opened a can of worms and it is your moral duty to sponsor this research. It will be done by professionals and that cost money.
Urgent funds are required and receipts of every amount will be issued to the sponsor including results before being publicized.
In order to ensure unbiased results or possible corruption in end results two independent scientist will have to be appointed to conduct these research programs and I think you will agree with this!
Funds allocated i.e.cheques or transfers etc “must stipulate for research on whale oil content” please and will be paid over to the appointees immediately in order that they may proceed. Only admin bank fees will be deducted. It is estimated that approximately R30, 000 will be required that will be divided amongst the two appointees.
For security reasons we cannot disclose these appointees now but every cent that is paid over to them will be accounted for by acknowledgement of funds received by them.
Obviously the results on cetyl alcohol content in products may not contain whale oil but if we do not include brands with this ingredient we will never know and I am sure you will agree that we have to check this as well.
Please pledge your support for this morale whaling cause! Without your support we cannot hold anyone responsible for this ill deed!
I thank you!
Yours faithfully'

Subject: Whale Cosmetics discovered by Johannesburg newsreporter Elise Tempelhof from Die Beeld newspaper
Johannesburg Newspaper Reporter Elise Tempelhof from the Beeld Newspaper discovers whale oil in South African Cosmetics.
What a calamity for Japan it has been said!
By declaring that Japan have the passion to execute scientific whaling for the future of whales i.e. breeding patterns, eating habits and heaven knows what research projects in a whale sanctuary has certainly backfired.
Now we know that they have been lying! The so called research was cosmetic and pharmaceutical research amongst other bogus research programs which will come out in the open once certain matters has been cleared.
This is most disappointing and abhorring. They are in fact processing whales to procure cosmetics and pharmaceuticals and must be condemned by South African citizens and the world by large. Foreign trade must be cancelled with Japan now and not tomorrow!. Products such as Vaseline Intensive Cream and many other products including shampoos, lipstick are just a few of the products that contain Cetacean, Cetyl or wording to that effect is freely distributed on the South African markets.
Read the ingredients on the plastic container yourself if you do not believe Whale Mark!
It is there, though in very small print! Check every purchase you make before paying for it.
Boycot these products! You will find these products at all major supermarkets.
If you purchase these products you are in fact supporting the massacre of whales.
Are elephants, dogs, cats and other animals killed for the same purpose?
We certainly hope not but nothing surprises us in the name of making money. We have been told the cosmetic division from whales generates approximately 50 billion dollars. Whether that is true we do not know but we need to quantify this in some way or other. Most properly someone can submit facts about this?
The SABC is unknowingly advertising this product from time to time as well and other TV networks as well.
Check it out!
The market has been saturated with whaling products and it is your moral obligation not to purchase products that contain Cetacean or of similar description.
The wording might change but the product could be the same.
DNA test are presently underway and if you want to do your own DNA testing, be our guest.
The name cetacean derives from a whale substance.
We certainly will have to combine forces in this regard.
Please respond!!
REMEMBER: These products are in all countries of the world!
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
1 Please forward this sad news to the SABC and other TV stations locally and internationally. Send to every newspaper in the world. We will do this in the meantime but we require your backing all the way by voicing your concern as well. Collectively we can make a difference. Doing it on our own is virtually impossible.
2 Circulate this message throughout the world! Draft petitions to companies importing whale oil for cosmetics and other and or hold pickets against them or request unconditional apologies from them
3 Do not purchase any product containing Cetacean or similar connotation and tell the manager of the store, supermarket or pharmacy to return the product to the supplier.
4 Do not, and I repeat take no for an answer, be proactive.
5 Boycotting Japanese product lines. Please await instructions. Let’s concentrate on one thing at a time unless you have other considerations in mind.
But, we have to unite in this effort otherwise it will be fruitless.
Your cooperation will be appreciated and lets work together.
Please forward suggestions and declare your support. It is vital to stop Japan in its tracks.
We will be in touch! Boycotting or demonstrations of Japanese products and suppliers of cosmetics etc. cannot be discounted or should proceed immediately!
Special thanks to Elise Tempelhof, reporter from the Johannesburg newspaper Die Beeld for detecting the name Cetacean. She should get a medal for this or what do you recommend.

Press Release
Unlawful Detention of Sea Shepherd Flag Ship Continues While Whales Are Being Massacred In The Antarctic Ocean
Cape Town, 10 February 2006: The SEA SHEPHERD Conservation Society’s flag ship, the Farley Mowat, remains incarcerated in Cape Town Harbour after being detained by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) upon arrival in Cape Town on 24 January, 2006, from her anti-whaling campaign in the Antarctic waters.
Neither SEA SHEPHERD nor the Farley Mowat has violated any South African laws or contravened any international regulations to warrant this detention.
The Farley Mowat has done nothing but hinder Japan in its illegal slaughter of whales, the same whales that many of us enjoy seeing along our coast, and on which the entire South African whale watching industry is built.
Despite not having presented a credible reason for the detention of the Farley Mowat, the detention order issued by SAMSA remains in force and the vessel incarcerated in the Cape Town harbour where it is moored at M-Berth, adjacent to the Cape Town Yacht Club.
To justify the detention SAMSA has variously alleged that the Farley Mowat is not in possession of the relevant safety certificates, that it is not in compliance with its Canadian registration requirements or that it is incorrectly registered by Canada, that it is not appropriately manned, or that it does not have adequate safety equipment on board. All of these allegations are factually incorrect and appear to be convenient constructs through which to justify the continued unlawful detention of the Farley Mowat.
In all of its activities, including its recent campaign against the illegal slaughter of whales by Japan in the Antarctic waters, SEA SHEPHERD upholds the United Nations Charter for the Protection of Nature, enforces regulations, and protects the marine environment.
SEA SHEPHERD is not a protest organization. The SEA SHEPHERD strategy is to intercept, intervene and prevent whaling and other illegal activities affecting marine life. This action-oriented approach is seen by some as unacceptable while harmless protests are condoned. However, protests alone have never saved the life of a single whale, allowing the slaughter to continue unhindered.
Placards and protests will not stop the greed driven massacres of whales nor the looming extermination of certain species of whales. Direct intervention, such as that undertaken by SEA SHEPHERD, does. This was again proven during the recent Antarctic Campaign where the Japanese Whalers abandoned their whaling activities as soon as SEA SHEPHERD appeared on the scene, and fled.
In the absence of any credible explanation for the ongoing detention of the Farley Mowat, it is assumed that its continued incarceration relates to the effectiveness with which it hindered the slaughter of whales by Japan in Antarctica during its recent Antarctica campaign.
During the current whaling season, which is still underway, Japan aims to massacre 935 Minke whales, 50 Fin whales, and 50 Humpback whales, ostensibly for scientific research purposes. During the next whale hunting season, which starts in late November, this self-imposed quota will be higher yet. This is irrespective of whether the whales are endangered, CITES listed, or not - the slaughter continues regardless.
SEA SHEPHERD appeals to the people of South Africa to intervene with the South African authorities to stop the unlawful detention of the Farley Mowat and to allow it to continue unhindered with its work of protecting the oceans.
By allowing this charade to continue our Government is seen by the international community to be in support of whaling and to be the pawns of Japan in this matter.
When the Farley Mowat is released from its current detention, SEA SHEPHERD intends to deploy the ship in the oceans around Southern Africa, where it will work to protect our marine resources from poaching by foreign vessels, prior to proceeding back to Antarctica in November 2006 to campaign against the 2006/7 Japanese whale slaughter.
South African citizens who want to join SEA SHEPHERD in its campaign to protect the oceans of Southern Africa can do so by:
* Volunteering for a period as crew members on the Farley Mowat; or
* By joining the campaign in their own vessels.
SEA SHEPHERD will provide all volunteers with the requisite training and will assist with the refurbishing of suitable vessels where required.
